1931 (2nd Edition) |

The casks selected for the second edition of 1931 was put down in 2004, 2005 and 2006. These include casks containing 100% Coffey Still distillates matured in a combination of American white oak casks and port casks. In addition, we selected casks with 100% Pot Still and 50/50 blends of Pot/Coffey Still aged in American white oak. The blend was assembled and then placed back into American white oak casks for a period of three months for a final marriage before being bottled. We have preserved the integrity of 1931 by using light filtration methods. As a result, 1931 may throw a harmless sediment that is perfectly natural.

The brand celebrates the inauguration of a new distillery in February 1931 in the Mabouya Valley, near Dennery, in St. Lucia. The Distillery was founded by Denis Barnard and produced rum until 1972 when St. Lucia Distillers was formed out of the merging of the Dennery distillery and the Roseau Distillery. On May 2nd 2007 St. Lucia Distillers was struck by a major fire which destroyed our administration and blending facility. Mercifully most of our distillery was spared but we suffered great problems with storage space for our casks. In the melee that followed our cellar master, Mr. Cyril Mangal, was forced to find space for ageing casks in the most unusual places.
